Disposal

Dispose of disposable vapes correctly

An empty vape remains an electronic device with a battery. It belongs neither in household waste nor in packaging recycling.

01

Keep the device intact

Do not force out built-in batteries, open the casing or pour out residual liquid. Hand a damaged device directly to collection-point staff.

02

Suitable return options

Municipal e-waste collection points and obligated retailers are suitable. Since July 2026, expanded take-back duties apply to vape retailers in Germany.

03

Why separate collection matters

Incorrectly discarded lithium batteries can cause fires in collection vehicles and facilities. Separate collection also enables recovery of valuable materials.

Electronic waste

Electronic waste is discarded equipment containing electrical or electronic components, including vapes. Germany collects it separately so hazardous substances can be controlled and materials recovered; it belongs in neither residual household waste nor packaging recycling bins.

Return point

A return point accepts specified waste equipment or batteries for separate treatment. In Germany it may be an obligated retailer, municipal collection facility or specialist site; accepted device types, quantities and rules for damaged cells should be checked before travelling.

Battery disposal

Battery disposal sends removable waste cells separately to a collection point with protected terminals; built-in vape cells generally remain in the complete device. Arrange handover only for cooled, stable damaged cells; do not touch or transport hot, hissing, smoking or rapidly swelling cells, keep away and call 112 for immediate danger.

Recycling centre

A recycling centre is a municipal or contracted site accepting separately collected waste, often including electrical equipment and batteries. Opening hours, resident eligibility and conditions vary locally across Germany; damaged lithium batteries must be explicitly declared to staff.
